The main objective of Institut Català de l’Envelliment is to
search and study the aspects related to ageing with the aim of improving the
quality of life of the elderly and promoting actions to achieve an active
ageing.
Institut Català de l’Envelliment has set the following goals:
· To promote and carry out applied research within the different aspects involved in ageing: active ageing, elderly health, social and environmental determining factors, maintenance of functional autonomy, dependence, etc.
· To facilitate the transfer of knowledge to the economic, social and political bodies and institutions in order to adapt the public services to the needs and preferences of old people.
· To evaluate the existing health and social policies related to ageing and to give advice in order to improve them.
· To analyse and evaluate care, health and social services for the elderly and to give advice to the managing team.
· To create a space for discussion about ageing, in which elder care professionals and institutions can take part actively and collaborate.
· To offer specialized training and information related to ageing, specially aimed at professionals who take care of old people.
· To give advice to the public in order to promote satisfactory and healthy ageing.
