The training model for Tourism and Hotel Management de la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona began in 1993 with the creation of a Hotel School on the Campus and the Diploma in Hotel Management. In 1997, this model was consolidated with the birth of the Escola Universitària de Turisme and the Diploma in Tourism, and culminated in 2001 with the creation of the Escola Universitària de Turisme i Direcció Hotelera (EUTDH).

The school offers training, unique in the state of Spain, that allows for a high level of specialisation with the offer of two differentiated titles with specific itineraries: the diploma in Tourism and the degree in Hotel Management. The synergies generated between the studies offered by the Escola Universitària de Turisme i Direcció Hotelera and those given by the UAB guarantee a high quality of training and allow for a wide range of connections with other university subjects in the fields of human and social sciences, specialised complementary training and further education in second and third-cycle studies. (In the Spanish university system, the term ‘second-cycle’ refers to the final phase of undergraduate study; the term ‘third-cycle’ refers to postgraduate study).
